Tidal River Swimming Hole

Foam circles on top,

leaves drifting below,

back this way

in ten minutes or so.

No need to hurry,

let me commune

on this incoming tide

with no slack till noon.

Slow circle now,

I am spinning round,

just a few more loops

before heading to town?

Might as well tarry

with the afternoon breeze,

with the sea salt ions

through the grass and the leaves—

life repeats,

and it can soothe,

this time is for me,

my nature’s truth.
