The heat from the fire warms

More than my body. The light

Focuses my attention on the flame.

I peer patiently with an ignited

Understanding that my energy for answers

Will be depleted before my questions.

I keep fire in my sight,

Knowing that even brief, charcoal-spent moments

Still have energy to bring light.
