Dusk

Heavy eyes of rods, more light comes in,

slowing now, the day is dim.

Deer wander by, none I care to keep—

they will make it safe through

tonight’s sweet sleep.

The fountain of light has spun away,

evening lulls without delay.

My blessings, pains, and complex thoughts

are invited now to quieter spots.

A comforting form to take to sleep—

candlelit rhyme resounding through blinks.

No matter the outcome, all I can say,

not all were so lucky on this day.

Less than a flutter in what is time—

infinite existence or just a line.
